Topic #2 - Pencils

What was your concept for this site?

Since we were doing two drafts, I thought of doing a sample of things people do with a pencil; like sketch and take notes. For the second sample I wanted to do more of serious site for example, using a mechanical pencil and thinking of the yellow pencil color and using the complimentary blue.

This concept has a child-like feel to it, which is the direction I was going for. When I thought pencil, I thought of "doodles" on a page of notes and wanted to make it fun.	For this concept I wanted a more serious aspect of a pencil. I thought the rounded edges would be a good contrast of the strait, hard edged mechanics of the pencil.

Which design did you choose and why?

I decided to go with the professional style theme. I liked the color scheme and possibilities of the layout. During the construction of the site, the pencil going down the middle didn't work well, so I changed the image in the background to work better with the composition.

What changes did you make to your revision and why?

There weren't many chages made, but the obvious one is the title of the page which I forgot in the first version. I also took the boldness off the body copy and increased the font size by a point or two. The last revision I made was curving the edges on the "user stories" box to tie it in with the design.
